TWO months after an original proposal was rejected by Thurrock Council planning officers for a new home development next to an existing Grays home, its owners have come back with a new scheme.

Plans were initially submitted to the council last year for changes at 1 Gravel Pit Cottages off Bridge Road which included a single storey rear extension to the existing residential dwelling and erection of a two storey, two bedroom dwelling.

The application was rejected because it was deemed not to match the design and proportions of existing properties and would be to the detriment of the character and visual amenities of the area.

It was also not demonstrated to the satisfaction of the council that adequate parking would be able to be provided to serve the needs of the proposed and existing dwelling at the site and consequently, it was deemed likely that additional parking would occur on the nearby unmade access road.

Just a few weeks after receiving that verdict the applicants are back for a second go, saying they have made changes which rectify the suggested problems.

The new application – and the opportunity to comment on it, can be found via this link.
