Second stables fire in Stanford where horses died earlier this year but crews report no animals were hurt this time

By Neil Speight 30th Aug 2020

FIREFIGHTERS have this evening tackled a fire at a stable block in Stanford-le-Hope - a repeat of an incident early this year in which a number of horses died. In this instance, no animals have been affected.

The first blaze took place at the stables on Stanford Road in April and crews were called to the site once more this evening (Sunday, 30 August).

Firefighters were called to reports of a fire involving a stable building in Stanford-Le-Hope this evening.

Control teams received almost 70 calls to the incident, which was close to the A13 and producing a lot of smoke.

On arrival at 8.40pm, crews reported that one building was 100 per cent alight. Firefighters worked hard to prevent it spreading and managed to contain it - avoiding damage to nearby buildings.

No animals were harmed in this incident.

Fire chiefs says an investigation to establish the cause of the fire will take place tomorrow.
