Serious sexual assault at pool is being investigated

DETAILS have now emerged of the incident that led to the brief closure of Corringham Leisure Centre yesterday (Thursday, 2 September).

A statement from police says: "We are investigating a report of a serious sexual assault at Impulse Leisure in Corringham which was reported to us at 8.40am yesterday, Thursday, 2 September.

"The victim, a woman in her 30s, is being supported by specialist officers and our enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone who believes they witnessed the moments leading up to the incident should call 101, citing incident 253 of 2 September.

"You can also submit a report online via this link where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am-11pm.

"Information can also be given to independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
