ADMINISTRATORS at the Whitmore Hall in Orsett, a volunteer-run hall facility for the local community have announced they have had to remove the site's rubbish bin because of constant problems with fly-tipping and people breaking it open to dump their own waste.

A statement just published by one of the organisers says: "Sadly we arrived to find more rubbish dumped filling our bin and the rest left on the side, this has been an ongoing issue for a considerable time that we have to pay out for out of the money that is supposed to be spent on activities for the residents children that attend the various groups that are run for them.

"As one of the many volunteers that provides these activities I would prefer my time to be spent teaching the youngsters the many life skills that scouting delivers, however tonight I spent a considerable time looking through rubbish that had been fly tipped in and around our bin in an attempt to find a clue as to the fly tipper.

Rubbish dumped at the site

"Well tonight success, an envelope in the rubbish with a name and address on it, the resident will find they have been reported for fly tipping to Thurrock council.

"We have also made the sad decision to have the bin removed as we can no longer afford to pay for other people to use the bin. It is shameful when the local tip is so close.

"Yes we lock it but it gets pulled open or the rubbish gets dumped alongside."
