IN the wake of Thurrock's first ever Pride event that took place on Saturday, 8 June a documentary film has been produced and it will get its premiere at the Thameside Theatre in Grays later this month.

Daryl Branch, the artistic director of Arts Outburst which ran Pride, says: "Thurrock's First Pride was a truly historic moment. Arts Outburst are truly humbled to have been trusted by Thurrock LGBTQ+ network to make this happen for the community.

We had the best day ever! We walked, sang, danced, cheered, laughed, cried, debated and lifted each other in solidarity no matter how we identify.

"As the saying goes 'the first Pride was a riot' and that was most certainly the case here in Thurrock!

"Thanks to all the partners, funders supporters, speakers, artists and performers who helped to make this such a successful day!"

To celebrate the achievements and highlight events at Thurrock Pride 2024, on Thursday, 25 July the borough's LGBTQ+ Network will present the film showing how Pride Festival was put together, alongside a video of the day.

Arts Outburst recorded all of the day's panels discussions and these will be released soon as a Podcast series.

The T100 Pride Flag collection will be paraded as part of the Afro Food Fest x T100 10 year celebration on Saturday, 22 June at Grays Town park.

And the Rainbow pavement at the front of the Thameside Complex will remain a permanent fixture to celebrate the historical event.
