A THURROCK youngster has managed to raise £370 for the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal thanks to his crocheting skills.

In October Thurrock Nub News reported on the efforts of ten-year-old Stanley Jackson, a pupil at Stanford primary School, who was inspired by You Tube videos to learn how to crochet.

And he acquired his skills just in time for last month's Remembrance events – creating woollen poppies which proved a hit with local people and he managed to sell enough of them to make £370.

And as one fundraising season ended, the young scout - a Cub with 2nd Stanford Toomai – has turned his hand to making Christmas items and he is selling them to raise funds for Cancer Research.

If anyone is interested in getting one of Stanley's creations contact his proud mum Kristina on Facebook.
