Sunday morning by the Thames in peaceful Stanford as world's biggest container ship arrives

HMM Algeciras, the world's largest container ship, arrived in Thurrock this morning (Sunday, 14 June).

The visit of the ship caused a degree of interest so Thurrock Nub News editor Neil Speight popped down to the Thames riverside near Stanford-le-Hope to try and catch a view of the arrival.

He didn't quite manage that as viewpoints from the shore are limited but he did manage to capture the essence of a lovely Sunday morning and capture the peaceful sights and sounds of the adjacent nature reserve and riverbank – plus some local folk enjoying themselves in the peaceful surroundings.

We hope you enjoy his visit. The nature reserve and riverside paths are open to the public and can be accessed via Wharf Road in Stanford le-Hope or a longer walk can start at the Thameside Nature Park at Mucking.

Neil did eventually get to see the Algeciras via the logistics park and thanks to the Port of London Authority and DP World (in the end of the main film) we can see that she did arrive safely.
