ST Luke's Hospice is calling on the local community to get their walking shoes on and take part in the registered charity's annual sponsored walk, St Luke's Loop.

Taking place on Sunday, 8 October this 7.3-mile marshalled walk is ideal for the whole family and can provide an opportunity for those taking part to remember a loved one, who may have received care from the Hospice.

Commencing at the Basildon Hospice, the designated buggy and wheelchair accessible pathway meanders through the hilly terrain of Langdon Hills Country Park, finishing back at the Basildon Hospice.

Walkers taking part in the event can enjoy the beautiful scenic views this circular route has to offer as well as passing the home of two native pigs, Peaches and Humbug.

Those wishing to take part in the sponsored walk will be required to register online before the event via the Hospice's website - www.stlukeshospice.com/event/st-lukes-loop.

Registration costs £10 per person, with children under five years of age able to participate at no charge when accompanied by an adult. Dog walkers are also welcome.

A spokesperson for St Luke's said: "As a registered charity St Luke's Hospice is reliant on the generosity of the local community. All sponsorship funds raised from St Luke's Loop can help the Hospice to ensure the ongoing provision of specialist, compassionate palliative and end of life care, where and when it is needed the most.

If you have any questions about St Luke's Loop, contact the Hospice's Fundraising team on 01268 524973 or [email protected].
