PLANS are being made for another 'Pass Wide and Slow' awareness ride in Thurrock next month.

Inaugural events in the borough last year, where rides took place in North Stifford and Horndon on the Hill, proved successful in spreading the message to motorists about the dangers of driving too close or too fast near horses being ridden on the road.

This year the ride, on Sunday, 15 September, will be starting from Fanns Farm in Aveley (RM15 4HY) at 9am.

The route will be via Love Lane towards Purfleet Road, turn right and continue until turning left on Mill Lane towards the B1335, at the roundabout turning right on B1335 towards Stifford Road roundabout and again right on High Street and back to Purfleet Road then left onto Love Lane and back to Fanns Farm.

The ride will be managed by volunteers from the Best British Centre and QAGS Foundation, with Essex Police officers also in attendance.
