POLICE have now called for witnesses and given an update on the condition of a man stabbed in Tilbury last night.

As reported yesterday (Sunday, 7 March) on Thurrock Nub News the emergency services responded to reports of a man who was attacked at a bus stop on Brennan Road in Tilbury, close to the junction with Portsea Road where a Co-op store is located.

A police statement says: "We were called to reports of an incident in Portsea Road, Tilbury, shortly after 5.35pm yesterday.

"It was reported to us that a man aged in his late teens had been stabbed in his leg outside a Co-op shop. He was taken to hospital for his injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing.

"A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.

"We believe this to be a targeted attack and there is no threat to the wider community.
