NATIONAL news and the fate of Prime Minster Boris Johnson may have captured the focus of many news watchers, but it has also been a busy week in Thurrock with many local stories covered by Nub News.

A key local story that impacts on the lives of many rural residents was covered in two stories about possible cuts to local bus services - with a conclusion that more consultation is needed before any decisions are made being reached.

Parents at a borough primary school told us of their concern and disappointment after they were told not attend their children's sports day - though they can see them dance!

Sadly we reported on the end of a long ambition by a borough man to run his own eco friendly business - though there can be little doubt that community stalwart Paul Luke will still play a part in the lives of many in the East of the borough with his good work.

Much debate has taken place about the fate of Thurrock's Thameside Theatre and there was a shock for campaigners who thought they might be about to get their hands on the keys to its door - only to learn the council is now talking to a potential new bidder.

And Thurrock Council wasn't really in the good books of Tilbury Tower block residents after they were told their concierge system might be scrapped - although the council later backtracked.

More community assets and their fate were also highlighted in a story about what might happen if the council gave away land it owns - there could well be a positive sting in this tale.

In Stanford-le-Hope there was sympathy for a young fundraiser and community hero after thieves literally took away his shining light.

But we end this review of just some of the many stories we have reported on, with an upbeat telling of the big drop made by a local councillor for a very good cause!
