Three years on, controversial planning application for new homes in Grays is back before council

CONTRACTORS who wish to build a controversial development in Grays are asking Thurrock Council for final approval to begin work.

The development for the creation of a terrace of three dwellings with private gardens on land off Prospect Place won approval, despite significant local opposition, in November 2019.

Potential neighbours were concerned about the impact of the development in the area, and particularly the additional parking problems it might create. Earlier applications for a five and six homes on the site had been rejected.

Granting permission, without taking the matter before councillors, planning officers disregarded local objections but set a deadline for work to be started within three years.

They also imposed some planning conditions relating to management of the site and last week a new submission from the developers, seeking approval, was submitted.

You can read the application and comment, via this link.
