Thurrock festival will become part of a wider event for 2020

WHAT has become an annual arts event in Thurrock will now become part of a wider festival embracing the length of the river Thames.
For the past five years young people, through schools and other organisations, plus community groups and individual residents have taken part in a series of walks through the borough, displaying artictic creations, telling stories and sharing a sense of community.
The events, knows as the T100 Walking Festival, have been co-ordinated by Purfleet-based outdoor arts organisation Kinetika.
And it has now announced that this year's event has invited to be part of the Totally Thames festival.
The Thurrock Walking Festival usually takes place in July but in 2020, it moves to September which allows it to be one of the events in the Totally Thames programme, spreading the festival from the London boroughs down the Thames all the way to Shoeburyness. Totally Thames is an annual celebration of the River Thames run by the Thames Festival Trust. It curates a diverse, creative programme that connects people along and to the river, inspiring and enthralling participants and audiences. The theme for T100 in 2020 is T100 Calling. The festival is asking participants to reimagine their futures in creative ways. A series of mandalas, which are circular geometric patterns, will be created at locations along the walk routes as a response to this theme.
