POLICE have released more details this evening (Saturday, 19 February) and issued an appeal for information following this afternoon's incident on the A13 near Stanford-le-Hope when a car drove the wrong way down the eastbound carriageway and ended up being involved in a crash.

The statement from police about the incident, featured earlier today on Thurrock Nub News, says: "We are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage following a collision on the A13.

"Officers reported a silver Audi Q7 failed to stop for them on the A13 near to Stanford-le-Hope at around 12.55pm. It was then reported the vehicle went the wrong way on the A13 before being involved in a collision involving a number of other vehicles at around 1.25pm.

"Fortunately, no-one has been seriously injured.

"Two men have been arrested. A 23 year-old from Romford has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop when directed, and money laundering.

"A 31 year-old from Aveley has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop when directed, and possession of a Class B or C drug.

"They are both currently in custody.

"We need anyone who saw anything or has any dash cam footage to contact us. If you have any information you can submit a report online via this link where you can use the 'Live Chat' button to speak to an online operator between 7am and 11pm.

Please quote incident 616 of 19 February. "You can also call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
