AS a current dispersal order in Tilbury moves towards its conclusion, having been used to stop unlicenced and anti-social parties happening in the town, Essex Police have released footage of a previous incident in the area as part of a video about its use of drones.

The force was called to deal with the event a couple of weeks ago when the drones played a vital part in policing a disturbance.

In the information video released by the force, footage is shown of Tilbury, and Chief Inspector Darren Deex tells how the drones are used.

And he singled out the Tilbury operation, saying: "I recently deployed a drone in Tilbury. It enabled me to get a really good overview of the location of the scene, how many were in attendance and where the police officers were for their safety. It really helped me and my operational team."

Ch Insp Deex says the public will see a lot more use of drones in future and the force is currently developing technology to allow them to fly within buildings.
