Tower block death update: Four people arrested, including three suspected of involvement in flat raid

POLICE officers investigating the death of a man at a Grays tower block have made three further arrests as part of their investigation.

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, 6 October at George Crooks House on New Road.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. It was reported locally that he was an occupant in a flat in the tower block that was the subject of an aggravated burglary.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 3.40am and found a disturbance had taken place and a man had sustained a serious injury. 

Despite the efforts of medics who were called, a man died. 

An investigation was immediately launched by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate who have subsequenlty made three more arrests.

A 31-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman who have both now been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

This follows an arrest made on Saturday 7 October, when a 21-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

Detective Chief Inspector Terry Balding said: "This has been a fast-moving investigation, with four arrests, and we will continue to work at pace to identify the circumstances that lead to this man's death.

"We continue to believe that this is an isolated incident but appreciate that it's a concerning time for the community.

"I would continue to encourage anyone with information to come forward to officers who are supporting the community with high-visibility patrols today and speak to us.
