Town Hall will be going green as it looks back in time with special event for gardeners

THURROCK'S Town Hall, on High Street, Grays, will be opening up its doors to green-fingered residents later this monthy.

From Tuesday, 27 August to Thursday, 12 September' it will play host to an 'On the Allotment' exhibition.

This exhibition is a chance to see Thurrock Museum's recently restored historic allotment paintings, explore the heritage of allotments and find out why allotments and green spaces are important.

You can also try our interactive 'On the Allotment' display.

And on Saturday, 31 August, from 11am to 3.30pm, the town hall will play host to a participation event.

As well as enjoying the exhibition, you can try painting a pot, making seed bombs and sample allotment delights in the Town Hall café.

Twigs Way.

From 2pm to 3pm, there will be free talk by garden historian and researcher, Twigs Way on the subject of 'Plots and Politics, A History of the Allotment.

Twigs will explore the story of the allotment and its importance throughout history. The talk is entertaining and is illustrated using modern materials.
