A LARGE audience is expected for the latest in a series of presentations about the history of

Stanford-le-Hope.

Local historian and community activist Peter Watson, who describes himself as a 'visual storyteller' will be recounting more of the town's history at the event at the Welcome Club on Sunday, 1 March at 7.30pm.

The free event will cover the history of the village from Roman times to World War II.

There are 220 slides to show and it takes about two and a half hours including breaks.

Mr Watson says: "Seventy people so far have booked to attend but there is room for many more.

"If you would also like to come along. There is no fee for attending but we would be grateful for donations at the end of the evening which will go to the Stanford War Memorial Trust and Stanford Blooming Marvels."
