HORNDON on the Hill Feast and Fayre's annual 10K event is always a popular and fully subscribed affair - but this year one athlete is planning to make it even more special, by running the course continuously for 24 hours!

James Price will undertake his marathon effort starting at noon on Saturday, 27 June and after running through the day and night, he will do his final lap when the actual 10K sets off on Sunday morning.

James is running to raise funds for BRAKE, the road safety charity, following the death of the son of a couple of fellow Phoenix Striders Running club members.

Jake Wilkinson died on the evening of 20 March last year. The 21-year-old was on his way home from visiting his girlfriend in Billericay when he died after careering off the road and hitting a telegraph pole.

James is running not just to raise funds for Brake, but also to raise awareness, saying: "I am motivated by the terrible accident last year that happened to Jake who sadly passed away. Jake is the son of Colin and Sharon who are fellow runners in Phoenix Striders running club."

Jake and his supporters will set up a stall on the village High Street for the duration of the Feast and Fayre, which this year has the theme of 'The Roaring Twenties.'

You can find out more about James' run and donate via his justgiving page which can be accessed via the red button below.
