PURFLEET Heritage and Military Centre and East Tilbury's The Re-Use Partnership (TRUP) have been working together on a new display at the centre.

The team from TRUP recently visited the centre to celebrate completion of an exhibition showing a 1939 front room on the outbreak of World War Two.

Volunteers are sure the new exhibition, which includes recordings of key speeches, will provide an educational insight into a momentous date in British history.

Team members from TRUP and the Purfleet Heritage Centre stand by the new exhibition.

Paul Hounsell from the centre said: "Purfleet Heritage Centre would like to extend a big thank you to TRUP who generously provided materials and items of period furniture to finish the exhibition off."

The Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre is housed within Magazine No.5 of what was once the Royal Magazine for Gunpowder situated on the banks of the River Thames. It is open on Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Bank Holidays between 10am and 3pm and is an ideal venue for a family, school or group visit.

Should you have any items of furniture or white goods that are suitable for re-use then contact TRUP on 01375 846702, or visit their shop at unit 34, Thames Industrial Estate, Princess Margaret Road, East Tilbury, RM18 8RH.

The shop sells pre-owned furniture and electrical items, as well as paint. The shop is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 4pm.
