RESIDENTS and motorists in Chadwell St Mary will continue to be subjects to inconvenience, delays and diversions until Friday (3 July) following a burst water main on the village's busiest route.

The incident began when the road began to crack and water started leaking on Sunday (26 June) on Brentwood Road, close to the local shop and perol service stataion.

Initially engineers began work with just one lane of the bust through road was closed, but as the severity of the mains failure began to unravel, with unexpected difficulties in tring to find the pipes, the complete road was shut.

It has remained closed since Monday.

Today (Wedmesday, 1 July), Essex and Suffolk water delivered the following update: "Crews continue to work on the site, finishing off the repair, then we'll be fixing the road.

"The road should be fully reopened by the end of day Friday."
