Will it be third time lucky for developers in bungalow build bid?

FOR the third time Thurrock Council is being asked to give permission for new homes on the site of an existing, but empty, bungalow in Stanford-le-Hope.

The would-be developers have twice before been to the council, initially with plans for seven homes on the site, then five. Both were refused and appeals to the planning inspectorate were lost.

Now the firm behind the scheme, Cedarmill Developments Ltd from Basildon, is hoping it is 'third time lucky' as they have come back with a scheme for four new homes.

The initial seven home plan for the site on Branksome Avenue rejected because officers said it would be "cramped, overdeveloped and out of keeping with the prevailing character of the area."

The same reasons were cited by the council as to why the five home plan was not acceptable

Now developers are back again, saying their new four home plan has been designed taking into account previous reasons for refusal.

They say: "We have revisited the proposals with the intention of overcoming these concerns to prevent a development which would be considered cramped."

The bungalow, known as 'Montrose' is at 168 Branksome Avenue.

Each of the proposed new houses will have two parking spaces per unit, there will be two visitor spaces and a private amenity space.
