Woman summonsed to court following Christmas collision in 2018 - Plus regional courts round-up

A WOMAN has been summonsed to court after a man was struck by a car.

The 31-year-old man suffered a serious leg injury following the collision in London Road, Grays, on Boxing Day 2018.

Following an investigation by detectives, Michelle Monk, 29, of Hilltop Road, Grays, has been summonsed to appear at Basildon Magistrates' Court on 20 August.

She will face charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, and two counts of criminal damage.

Recent cases heard at court include:

A STANFORD-le-Hope man is being held in custody prior to sentencing at Crown Court next week after admitting a number of assault charges and pleading guilty of carrying an offensive weapon.

Darren Fairchild, 30, of Billet Lane, admitted the offences, which happened in Shoeburyness, when he appeared before Basildon Magistrates' Court.

CAMERON Alexander Flynn, 20, of Viola Close, South Ockendon, admitted eight charges of stealing items from the Tesco and Co-op stores in South Ockendon.

He also admitted two charges of assault.

Flynn was ordered to pay compensation of £206, which will be deducted from his benefits, and he must attend a rehabilitation activity.

He was also placed under a curfew order.

A SOUTH Ockendon woman admitted several charges of damaging a fence at South Ockendon police station. Kayleigh Brown, 21, of Eden Green was ordered to pay £300 compensation by Basildon magistrates.

And at a later court appearance Brown pleaded guilty to breaching an order not to enter an area of South Ockendon.

She was fined £120 and ordered to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £179.

A STANFORD-le-Hope man was remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault.

Dean Wilkins, 31, of Tripat Close, is due to appear before Chemlsford Magistrates again on July 6 when he will feature on a video link.

Bail was refused because of the nature and seriousness of the offence and because of fear Wilkins would cause injury or fear of injury to an associated person.

A 16-YEAR-old boy from South Ockendon appeared before Chelmsford Magistrates Court where he admitted two charges of possessing and supplying cannabis.

He was referred to a youth offender panel, which his parent must also attend and was ordered to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £71.

A CHADWELL St Mary man was remanded in custody after appearing before Southend Magistrates.

Arron Antony Armiger, 26, is charged with two offences of carrying an offensive weapons, possesion of cannabis and supplying cocaine and cannabis.

His case was sent to Crown Court for trial.

A BULPHAN man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault and was released on unconditional bail. Jamie Button, 41, of Church Lane, will appear for trial at Basildon Magistrates' Court on 5 August.

PAUL Berry, 37, of Parsonage Road, Grays, pleased not guilty to a charge of carrying an offensive weapon, a kitchen knife, on London Road, Grays. He was given unconditional bail and will appear for trial at a later date pending changes to coronavirus guidelines.

NATHAN Dymond, 19, of Foxglove Road, South Ockendon, pleaded guilty to damaging furniture, property and walls to the value of £3,000, the property of Claire Dymond.

He was released on conditional bail and must not enter Foxglove Road until his sentencing is decided following a pre-sentence report.

SARSFIELD Riley, 55, of Dent Close, South Ockendon, faces charges of causing damage estimated at £300 to repair to a van belonging to Brian Said. He is also charged with using abusive words or behaviour or disorderly behavior and is ordered to appear before magistrates in July.

PAUL Frank Gibson, 29, of Harty Close, Grays, has pleaded not guilty to a a charge of causing Minnie Hilden harassment, alarm or distress, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour.

He has pleaded guilty to two charges of theft of petrol from service stations in Grays and Stanford-le-Hope.

And to using abusive behaviour which was racially aggravated against a police officer.

Under the terms of his bail, Gibson must not enter Thurlough Walk. Grays.

His case is scheduled to be heard in July.
