JUBILEE celebrations are officially underway at Thurrock Yacht Club in Grays with the raising of a Jubilee Ensign from the Gull light.

The flag can be viewed from the riverside walkway, but is also highly visible to mariners of all nations on the river.

The club will be out sailing throughout the bank holiday weekend, with a number of races and other events planned.

They will also be participating in the Thames River Salute at midday on Sunday where all vessels on the Thames are encouraged to sound one long blast on their horns in celebration of Her Majesty's exceptional reign.
