Youngsters and staff join forum volunteers to brighten up local community with trees and decorations

By Nub News Reporter 6th Dec 2024

YOUNGSTERS and teachers in Corringham were out spreading Christmas cheer this morning (Friday, 6 December) in conjunction with the community forum.

Youngsters from local schools traditionally decorate the six trees in the local community that are arranged by the Corringham, Fobbing and Homesteads Community Forum, which this year were supplied by Little Lodge Garden Centre, Fobbing.

The Grinch and Father Christmas turned up to hinder and help!

Unfortunately, because of a water heating problem, Graham James School was closed today but some pupils and teachers and learning assistant still turned up to help, and expressed thanks to Steve Reynolds Carpentry for their help ahead of the event.

Present in numbers were youngsters from Abbots Hall Primary Academy, who gave a resounding message to local residents:

Speaking on behalf of the fourm local ward councillor John Fox said: "It was lovely to see so many smiling faces - and the sunshine. Last year it actually snowed a bit while the event took place. It was very seasonal but a bit chilly on the fingers.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported us again, this year."
