Youngsters enjoy a trip to the heart of borough debating and express their own views

By Nub News Reporter 21st Nov 2022

CHILDREN from Horndon on the-Hill and Stanford-le-Hope primary schools visited the Thurrock Council's chamber and met mayor Cllr James Halden recently.

After being welcomed by Cllr Halden the young people took part in a debate on the topic: ' Your school has a £25K grant. The motion is that this should be spent on sport and not music'.

Stanford Primary head Lisa Glanfield said: "The children did an amazing job putting their ideas forward and after a thorough debate made their final votes, with PE winning the majority vote.

"This was a fantastic experience for the children involved."
