POLICE have given more details of their recent investigations into a drugs supply ring which involved the Thurrock-based C17 gang.

Last week Thurrock Nub News reported on the pending appearance in court of a Grays man in connection with the police investigation.

PLANS have now been submitted for a new housing development in the heart of South Ockendon.

The proposed scheme involves the redevelopment of the former Culver Centre and Culver Field site to provide 173 new homes, 111 of which will be for private sale. The other 62 dwellings will be affordable flats.

AFTER a man was attacked and suffered minor injuries, police have appealed for witnesses to the assault.

ANOTHER landmark decision today has seen rebel Thurrock planning councillors land another blow against their planning officers and legal advisors as the controversial scheme to build up to 161 new dwellings on Thurrock Marshes in Little Thurrock is now set to go ahead.

FOLLOWING a difficult and at times fractious meeting last night (Thursday, 11 March) when Thurrock council planning councillors slammed the door on new designs for Stanford-le-Hope rail station, a leading councillor and former chair of the authority's transport scrutiny committee has welcomed the latest development.

As reported on Thurrock Nub News last night planning councillors refused to consider giving approval to plans put before then for 'stage one' of the Stanford rail station redevelopment until they were also given full site of the plans for the station car park and transport.

THE Tilbury ferry service was suspended late this afternoon because of a strong easterly wind and a strong ebb tide and in the end the decision was taken to call off all further services for the dat.

A statement from Jetstream, who run the ferry, said: "Sadly we have not seen any improvement in the conditions and so we are making the final decision not to run for the remainder of today's service.

AFTER waiting more than five and half hours to make a presentation, a representative of the applicants of a proposed Thurrock housing development was told the matter would be deferred without any debate.

POLICE have thanked members of local communities after a missing woman was found safe and well overnight.

Concern had been raised about the wellbeing of 22-year-ild Purfleet woman Cornelia Maruna, 22, who was believed to have been in the Horndon on the Hill or Stanford-le-Hope areas.
