IN the National Cricket League Emerland Division A there was another disappointing defeat for Aveley CC as Newham bagged a three wickets victory in a highly competitive match.

Batting first at Flanders Playing Field visitors Aveley scored 220 for six in their 40 overs.

For Aveley Salman scored a brilliant 64 joining captain Tipu Samsuddin (34) for a 100 run partnership.

Being in good position in 20 overs at 111 for two the middle order collapsed and Aveley lost wickets in quick succession. Mahmud Hossain (34) and Kishor Kumar (36) recovered to give the team a fighting score of 220 for six.

Chasing Newham were under pressure right from from the beginning. Tight bowling from Salman and Kishor slowed down their scoring rate. However, the seventh partnership played brilliantly to take the home team to victory.

Salman, Ziad, Kamrul and Ripon all took two wickets each as Newham won by three wickets.
