ON Saturday 26 June, Belhus CC 1st XI hosted Essex Premier League strugglers, Harold Wood, in what could only be called a 'proverbial six pointer' in football parlance.

Belhus 1st XI needed a moral boosting Essex Premier home win at their North Stifford ground after what had been a difficult few weeks, results wise.

Cometh the hour, cometh the men, Belhus batted first, with ace batsmen, Danny Joyce and Shane Barwick scoring 53 and 54 respectively and setting Belhus on their way to a decent tally of 216 runs.

On the turnaround, the bowling attack was led by Max Osborne who took five wickets ("5for") and Belhus' Sri Lankan import, Sahan Nanayakkara impressed again with three wickets and seven maiden overs. In the end, Belhus CC 1st XI emerged victorious by 55 runs.

Belhus CC 1st XI travel to Billericay next Saturday July 3 for what is yet another proverbial six pointer in the battle to preserve Premier league status for both clubs.

Belhus CC 2nd XI travelled to their league leaders, Epping on Saturday and came back with a hard fought draw. Belhus CC 3rd XI were in fine form at the South Ockendon Recreation ground when they secured a fine win by eight wickets against Wanstead and Snaresbrook.

Belhus CC 3rd XI were set a run chase target by Wanstead of 200 but opening batsmen, Saiful Islam and Alex Blake were in great form, scoring 78 and 62 runs respectively. They were ably assisted by Robert Healy (a rapid 37 runs) and 'in form' Andrew Williams' 13 runs, to secure a comfortable victory.

Belhus CC 4th XI and 5th XI had games away at local rivals, Orsett & Thurrock. Belhus CC 4th XI secured a draw but Belhus CC 5th XI lost out in their XI match.
