A WEEKEND of top action is promised at Thurrock RFC's Oakfield ground with two matches to savour.

Today (Saturday, 2 April) Thurrock men's first team will be looking to bounce back from last week's derby defeat at Brentwood when they entertain one of the founder members of the Rugby Football Union, Belsize Park, for a London North clash that kicks off at 3pm.

And tomorrow is another day of destiny for Thurrock T-Birds ladies team who have a Championship South Division One decider against Old Albanians.

It's the final match of the league season for both sides.

Thurrock top the table and are three points ahead of tomorrow's visitors, so the title is at stake.

The match kicks off at 2.45pm and there will be a buffet lunch before the match (admission must be pre-booked) A club spokesperson said: "This is the one we have waited for! We want a huge crowd at Oakfield. Let's hear that T-Birds chant as the ladies look to clinch the title. "Saints will bring a tough test. Be that extra player. come and support the best side outside of the Premiership!"
