Hope remains for Rocks after hard-fought win at Casuals

ROCKS continue to cling to the hope of escape from the Isthmian Premier drop after a comeback win at King George's Field on Saturday (26 March).

Defeat would have stretched even the most diehard fan's anticipation of survival but, despite going down in the first half, East Thurrock belied the form of their last two matches and pulled off a victory – described by manager Marc Harrison as 'one for the fans'.

Harrison has been critical of the commitment of his players in the previous two matches but they responded with a determined, hard fought effort at Corinthians.

Misha Djemali had put Corinthians ahead in the 39th minute but East Thurrock responded in the second half with an equaliser from Ollie Miles five minutes into the second half.

And the win was sealed thanks to an impressive strike from Southend United loanee Oli Coker with 12 minutes remaining.

Victory still failed to lift Rocks from the bottom of the table as Leatherhead managed a win at Horsham but it has moved them nearer the safety zone, albeit six points behind 19th placed Brightlingsea Regent.

Rocks do have a chance to make up more ground with a home match against Potters Bar on Tuesday (29 March).
