A BOROUGH student excelled at a national schools academy athletics championship, bringing a broze medal back to Thurrock.

Competing against talented athletes from across the 55 Harris Federation acadmamies, Harris Academy Chafford Hundred Year 7 student Amelia Kellard delivered an outstanding performance in the Year 7 Girls' 800 metres, finishing in third place and securing a well-deserved bronze medal.

The Harris Federation of multi-academy trusts educates more than 50,000 students across primary, secondary and sixth-form settings. Founded in 1990/1991, the federation has developed a strong reputation for high expectations, excellent academic outcomes and a commitment to supporting the growth and success of both students and teachers.

On Monday (13 July) 2026, the Harris Federation Sports Day Finals brought together some of the federation's most talented young athletes for a prestigious day of competition at the iconic Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.

Amelia qualifed for the finals day by achieving second place in the regional event and in the race demonstrated exceptional determination, focus and resilience to take third spot.

Her achievement marks another successful milestone in an impressive year for Amelia, who continues to develop as a young athlete and proudly represents Harris Academy Chafford Hundred at major competitions.

Outside of athletics, Amelia is a talented and enthusiastic young person with a wide range of interests. She plays football for a team, has so far achieved a green belt in karate, and enjoys developing her creativity through art. Her commitment across sport and the arts reflects the discipline, teamwork, creativity and passion she brings to everything she does.
