AFTER a turbulent week of incomings and outgoings, Aveley FC produced another transfer to throw into the mix before today's (Saturday, 10 October) Isthmian Premier trip to Burgess Hill.

The latest name on a Millers signing on form is central defender Romel Aarons Royal from Herne Bay.

Royal has plenty of Isthmian Premier League experience, having played for Brentwood Town and Hashtag United last season.

He was part of the Isthmian North title-winning Brentwood side during the 2024/25 season, when he made 43 appearances, scoring three goals in the process. He has previously also played for Welling United, Cray Valley PM, and was part of the youth set-up at Watford.

Royal joined Herne Bay at the start of the season and made nine appearances, scoring two goals against Margate and Steyning Town.

Millers travel to 11th placed Hill on the back of four successive league defeats that have seen them tumble to 16th in the table during a whirlwind of player and coaching changes.

Fans must be hoping the transfer merry-go-round has now come to a halt and the reshaped Millers squad, under new boss Alex Akrofi, can turn the cycle of disappointment around.

Disappointment also sums up the feelings of fans of Isthmian North clubs Grays Athletic and Tilbury, who have both struggled in recent matches. Tilbury are 15th with 11 points from ten matches, while Grays sit in the relegation zone with just seven points from the same number of outings.

Both clubs will see today's opponents as potential stepping stones in a rise up the table.

Tilbury are home to Takeley who are just two points above them and the visitors have taken just four points from five away days to date.

Grays make the trip to Little Oakley, who have impressed on their debut season in the Isthmian North, where they are 11th, just a point off a play-off spot, but the Blues will hope experience counts for something and will hope they can reverse the trend that has brought them heavy defeats in their last two matches.

In contrast to their senior neighbours, fledgling Phoenix club East Thurrock Community FC are on a roll, with four successive league wins and they entertain Southend Manor sitting in a lofty third-place in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League South Division.

Manor are 13 places below the resurgent Rocks but they do have an early season League Challenge Cup triumph against their hosts in early August to look back on.
