MILLERS failed to beat ten-man Welling United on Monday (4 December) at Parkside a result that means they have now not won in their last six Vanarama National League South matches.

Despite that they sit in fourth position, but the five teams directly below all have games in hand and if they all picked up the requisite points Millers could drop to eight, a place outsid the play-off zone.

Welling struck first from the penalty spot in the 34th minute on Monday, a hotly contested decision by the referee as Siju Odelusi appeared to have won the ball with a hard but fair tackle. Aveley's pleas were ignored, and Tristan Abrahams slotted the penalty home for the visiting Wings from across the Thames.

However, Welling soon rfound themselves on the wrong end of another of the ref's decisions when goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook was given a straight red card for his challenge on Manny Ogunrinde inside the penalty area.

Outfielder Abrahams went in goal for the penalty but Odelusi slotted home to even things up in the 42nd minute.

The Millers followed up with a second goal in first half added time when Ogunrinde crossed from the right-hand side. The replacement goalkeeper left it and the ball went in - it was a spectacular error of judgement.

After half-time, Aveley failed to make the man advantage count and Wings scored in the 58th minute after Kain Adom beat goalkeeper Jonathan North to a long ball into the box. North wasn't quick enough to react, and the visitors were level.

Aveley leave the league challenge behind at the weekend and welcome Hungerford Town of the Southern League Premier Division South to Parkside next Saturday (9 December) in the Isuzu FA Trophy third round.
