GRAYS recovered from a two goal deficit to win through in last night's (Wednesday, 24 August) FA Cup preliminary round replay at Parkside.

And they had a hero in keeper danny Sambridge who saved a penalty to keep Grays right in the mix just before half time.

The match had the worst possible start for Grays when Stotfold's Devante Simmi was given plenty of space at the end of a first minute attack to slot the ball home.

And, in what was the catalyst to a dramatic three minutes spell on 42 minutes Code-lee Spavins fird home a Stotfold second.

A fine pass from Aron Gordon set the overlapping Joshua Osude free a couple of minutes later and he held his nerve the drive the ball past keeper Liam Gooch.

There was still time for more drama, as Grays conceded a penalty but Sambridge dived to his left to keep the ball out.

And on the hour Grays found themselves on level terms when Callum Watts got the ball out from under his feet on the edge of the box and drilled a shot home.

As to cap the comeback Osude unpicked the backline again on 72 minutes and fired the ball into the net.

The win sets up a first qualifying round trip to Edgeware Town, who clinched their replay win on Tuesday with a dramatic late extra time penalty winner in a fiesty match against AFC Dunstable.
