THERE'S an Essex derby at Aveley this afternoon in the Vanarama National League south and a first meeting in more than ten years between two of the county's leading non-League clubs.

Braintree Town will be visitors to Parkside for a 3pm kick off.

The Last time these two sides met was in the BBC Essex Senior Cup in December 2010 at Mill Field, with The Millers coming out 2-0 victors after goals from Spencer Harrison and Andy Howell put Carl Griffiths men into the next round of the cup.

Millers Matt Rush and Jon Benton both donned the Braintree Town kit last season.

Braintree Town have well known central defender John White who has played for Colchester United and Southend United in the football league, making almost 500 appearances when combining the two sides.

Jayden Randell

Possibly in the Millers squad will be new signing Jayden Randell.

The centre half joins after a spell recovering from an injury, Jayden was with Concord Rangers and played more than 3,000 minutes for The Beachboys during the 2021/22 season.

The 22-year-old centre half has also featured for National League side Wealdstone and fellow National South side Maidstone United.

Jayden has been training with the Millers this season and played 60 minutes in their friendly against Isthmian Premier League side Concord Rangers earlier in the month.

The other competitive match in the borough today is an FA Vase clash, with Tilbury playing host to Baldock Town at the EMR Stadium.

Tilbury's last outing was last weekend's impressive 3-0 win at Takeley which lifted Dockers to sixth place and extended an unbeaten run to four matches and they have lost just twoce in their last nine outings, putting a disappointing first couple of weeks of the season well behind them.

Grays Athletic are without a match.
