Haringey Borough 2, Tilbury 3

MATCHES between Dockers and Borough this season have been high-scoring affairs, with Tilbury again coming out on top after today's (Wednesday, 1 January) win at White Hart Lane.

The outcome was not only a repeat of a 3-2 win for Tilbury at the EMR Stadium in August, but followed a 4-4 draw in the Isthmian Velocity Cup in October, which Dockers ultimately won on penalties.

More importantly, the resolution Tilbury showed to come back from a two goal deficit ended a disappointing streak and the three points lifted Tilbury to sixth in the Isthmian League North.

Tilbury's managerial partnership of Marc Harrison and Liam Wallace  made three changes to their starting eleven from Saturday's draw against Ipswich Wanderers with Alfie Fry, Cameron Brodie and Kieran Jones returning to action in place of Jack McQueen, Sam Carter and the injured Dan Trendall.

Dockers came close to finding an early lead after three minutes when Sam Bantick's in-swinging cross was met by Kieran Jones who poked the ball through to Alex Hernandez, but Jack West Astuti was out quick to deny the striker.

Just 10 minutes later, Haringey Borough opened the scoring with an incredible strike by Manny Yeboah. The midfielder skipped past a challenge on the left-hand side before unleashing an unstoppable shot into the top right corner.

The visitors almost found a swift response through Jack Hayes, but his header from six yards out was very well saved by West Astuti.

Boro then netted the second goal of the game on 18 minutes when a corner was not dealt with by Tilbury, and the ball fell to 43-year-old Derek Asamoah, who yet again rolled back the years and produced a stunning overhead kick to double his side's lead.

Dockers pulled one back thanks to a commanding goal by Jordan Clark on 25 minutes. The stand-in centre-half picked the ball up in his own half and danced through the midfield before playing a give-and-go with Sam Bantick to get himself one-on-one where he found the top corner.

Then Clark got his second goal of the day on 36 minutes to get the game back on level terms. Macauley Joynes' corner was deep to the back post where Cameron Brodie was waiting to put a cross back into the danger area. The ball made its way to Clark who headed down and through the keeper's legs to send Tilbury into half time with the scoreline level.

The away side completed the comeback on the hour mark when Oli Spooner fizzed a pass into Hernandez who pinned his market and rolled him beautifully with a perfect touch around him. The forward then cut back onto his right foot where he unleashed a wonder strike past the keeper to win all three points for his side.

Dockers are back in action on Saturday (4 January) when they return to the EMR Stadium to host third-placed Brentwood Town at 3pm.
