Walthamstow 3, Tilbury 0

TWO late goals gave a somewhat exaggerated look to the scoreline as Walthamstow recorded their first Isthmian North points of the season on a disappointing evening (Tuesday, 10 September) for the Dockers.

The Wadham Lodge side took the lead on 26 minutes and both players involved were former Tilbury players, to add salt to the wound. A great ball around the defence from Callum Ibe created the opportunity and Brian Moses slid in to open the scoring.

Walthamstow took the lead into the break and after the interval Tilbury looked a better side and more likely to score.

Just after the hour captain Oliver Spooner almost got his side level with a good effort that produced an equally applaudable save from Hafed Al-Droubi.

Ten minutes later sub Dan Trendall broke clear and got a shot off but he was denied by the keeper.

With five minutes to go the hosts grabbed their second when a shot from the edge of the area was well saved by Christian North but Tayo Oyebola was on hand to poke the rebound home.

And eight minutes into added time Bilal Sayoud's effort from the right hand side crept in at the near post to complete the scoring.

Tilbury will be looking to bounce back in Saturday's FA Cup tie at Chadfields when they will hope to produce a giantkilling act against Chelmsford City.
