DOCKERS took a hard fought point from their first match in this season's Isthmian North, battling for a goalless draw at Brightlingsea Regent this afternoon (Saturday, 15 August).
The sides were well-matched and it wasn't until the 24th minute that the first real chance arose, Regent shooting over the bar after a goalmouth scramble.
Tilbury went close to the opening goal on 30 minutes when Ben Allen found Soumen Nandi with a low cross and the forward sets the ball to Troy Chiabi. However, he was denied by a brilliant save from Roan Tucker.
Chances were few and far between but on 70 minutes Brightlingsea worked the ball left to Luca Terminiello who had some space in the area, but his effort was brilliantly blocked on the line by Ronnie Winn.
The visitors had a chance to win it in added time when Freddy Townsend dispossessed Tucker and the ball fell to Charlie Stimson, but his effort rose over the bar, the the relief of home fans in a crowd of 216.
Dockers are back in action at Chadfields on Tuesday (18 August) when they entertain early table-toppers Hashtag United, who have won both their opening matches.
