TILBURY'S recently improved form rolled over into the FA Vase on Saturday (23 September) as the Dockers sealed a place in the First Round proper – and pocketed £725 prizemoney.

They will join 203 other clubs going into Monday's draw, with the tie to be played on Saturday, 21 October.

Baldock, from the Spartan South Midlands League, also went into the Second Qualifying Round tie on the back of decent recent form and there was little between the sides in the opening half hour.

Tolbury had progressed in the first qualifying round with a penalty shoot out win at FC Clacton and in the early stages another close tie looked in prospect.

Striker Roman Campbell did test visiting keeper John Mollision on 24 minutes and soon after Harvey Browne fired a low shot just past the upright.

Dockers had gained the ascendancy, and they were rewarded on 30 minutes when Tom Salter cut inside a whipped in a curling cross that evaded everyone and found the back of the net.

It was a lead Dockers took into the break and just after the hour they extended it when Mollison wasn't able to deal with Campbell's strike and the Tilbury mad followed up to force the ball home at the second attempt.

He might have had another soon after when he was set free by Brian Moses but this time he missed the target.

However, deep in added time a third Tilbury goal did come. Baldock three everything forward, including Mollison, for a set piece and Dockers were grateful to keeper Christian North for a great save and the home side took advantage with a clearance that stranded the visiting stopper upfield and From distance Igli Metalia's shot from distance found the unguard Baldock net to round off a successful afternoon.

Tilbury will be back in action on Tuesday evening (26 September) with a friendly at Canvey Island (7.45pm).
