Heavy defeat for Grays
Heavy defeat for Grays

Hashtag United 6, Grays Athletic 1

A SECOND half blitz by Isthmian Premier Hashtag ended Grays' interest in this season's Velocity (Alan Turvey) Trophy at Parkside on Tuesday (29 October) evening.

The Blues have been disrupted by black weekends as they have tried to get their season back on track so the short trip to Aveley's ground, which social media side Hashtag have made their home this season, was always likely to be a difficult test.

Hashtag have themselves made a stuttering start to their campaign and sit fourth from bottom but they made that test all the harder for their Isthmian North visitors with a goal from Camilo Restrepo after just four minutes.

Jermaine Anderson doubled the lead on 26 minutes and that's how it stood at the break.

Half time sub Louie Remi sparked hopes of a comeback seven minutes after the restart but that was as good as it got.

Hashtag moved up a gear and responded with a 62nd minute goal  from Sakariya Hassan before Max Cornhill (77 mins), Darren Foxley (91) and Misha Djemaili (94) gave the scoreline a very emphatic look.

Grays will be back in Isthmian North action on Saturday (2 November) when they entertain Maldon and Tiptree at the EMR Stadium and they will return to cup action next Tuesday (5 November) with an Essex Senior Cup clash Waltham.
