FA Cup history to be made Grays Athletic Women will make history at the weekend with their first-ever appearance in the Women's FA Cup.

Grays Athletic FC is a community club, providing opportunities for all members of the local community.

This Sunday sees another landmark event, with the club's Women's 1st XI appearing in the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

Whether it's the men's or women's tournament, the FA Cup raises the excitement levels for players, officials and supporters alike.

Last season, the Women's FA Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester United was played in front of a full house at Wembley Stadium and it is an unbelievable opportunity for the Blues women to be part of this amazing competition.

It is a mark of the progress that the Women's team has made over recent years that they are now eligible for entry into the FA Cup.

Their debut fixture is a home one against near- neighbours, Chelmsford City Women, who play in the division below Grays Ath in the women's league pyramid.

The reward for the winners is a tie against Luton Town Women.

Women's manager, Amanda French said "This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our team to make an impression on the greatest cup competition in the world, at the first time of asking.

"We are incredibly proud to be representing our club and are looking forward to being part of the history of the FA Cup."

The game against Chelmsford City is being played on Sunday, 10 September at the club's current home venue at Tilbury FC's EMR Stadium.

Kick off is at 2pm. Entry is £5 (including a matchday programme) U16s just £1.
