LAKESIDE Shopping Centre has announced a new partnership with Corringham-based Thurrock Borough FC, saying it wants to champion grassroots football and create opportunities for local people in Thurrock and beyond.

As part of the partnership, Lakeside has become an official partner of the club and will sponsor the kits for both Thurrock Borough FC's men's, women's and youth first teams throughout the upcoming season.

The club's revived women's section will play their first match for many years next weekend.

Lakeside says the partnership reflects 'a shared commitment to making a positive impact, using sport as a catalyst to bring people together and strengthen community connections'.

To mark the launch of the partnership, players from Thurrock Borough FC's men's, women's and youth teams, including Richard Smith, Jemma McCarthy and Ella Barber, visited Lakeside for a special photoshoot wearing the club's new Lakeside-sponsored kits.

Beyond supporting the club on the pitch, the partnership will see Lakeside and Thurrock Borough FC collaborate on a year-round programme of community activations. Planned initiatives include player appearances at Lakeside, football skills events celebrating the launch of the club's new women's team, and onsite recruitment activity for a new six-a-side league.
