Cray Wanderers 2, Aveley 1
ALL the goals came in the second half as Aveley suffered a defeat at Hayes Lane but they remain inside the Isthmian Premier play-off zone.
The first half was nondescript with few chances, though Millers were grateful to keeper Jonathan North for one fine save.
At the other end Kenny Aileru went closest for Aveley after beating Shaun Rowley to the ball but though he nicked it past the keeper, it slipped just wide of the upright. Rowley was also on top of his game to deny Blaise Riley-Snow and then Harry Gibbs.
The opening goal materialised on 54 minutes when a ball out from North was intercepted by Ben Krauhaus whose drive forwards resulted in the ball breaking kindly for Tom Derry who slotted it home with a crisp shot.
Aveley thought they should have had a 75th minute penalty when Harrison Sodje appeared to handle the ball in the box but they did draw level with 11 minutes to go when Brendon Shabani crossed and Tom Stephen headed home.
It looked as if that would earn Millers a share of the points but with five minutes to go a cracking strike from Mitch Chapman from outside the area flew into the back of the net.
