Aveley 3, Potters Bar 0

AN outstanding performance from Aveley saw them lift the Velocity Cup this evening (Wednesday, 5 april).

They were set on their way by a stunning strike from Tom Stephen just before half time and second half goals from Benas Vaivada (49) and Oli Coker (62) sealed the win.

Scholars made perhaps the brighter start and the lion's share of possesion, but did little with the ball.

Aveley began to get into the match and Siju Odelusi brought a save from Louis Chadwick and a second effort from the same player was blocked by Adam Martin.

The pressure continued and Odelusi was proving a real handful, forcing another save from Chadwick, who was rapidly becoming the busiest player on the park.

Millers celebrate their cup success.

And he was deservedly applauded for another fine save, this time from Benas Vaivada.

The keeper could do nothing soon after when Odelusi shot from distance, but the bar came to Bar's rescue!

However, what seemed inevitable finally happened just befoe the break when the Scholars cleared their lines only for the ball to fall to Stephen some 35 yards out and he controlled the bounce before striking a volley that looped over the keeper and under the crossbar.

It took four minutes of the second half for that lead to be extended. This one was more routine, a block rebounding to Vaivada who made no mistake from the edge of the box - although Chadwick came close to another save.

On 62 minutes any doubt about the outcome departed.

A well-worked move by the Millers saw the ball moved from right to left, and found Coker unmarked in the middle. He took a touch, and finished with aplomb.

Millers took the opportunity to make changes after the goal but it made little difference to the otucome or pattern of play and they held on comfortably to take the trophy.
