Concord Rangers 1, Tilbury 1

A GOAL in added time denied ten-man Tilbury an Isthmian North win in Tuesday evening's (11 November) Thames derby at the Aspect Arena.

Dockers led through Jack Hayes' 40th minute goal but just before half time Luke Reeves picked up a second yellow card and he was dismissed.

The ten men held out through the second half until the very closing stages. The match was three minutes into nine added on when Bobby Kelman equalised.

Tibury made a strong start to the match and had the ball in the Rangers net after 14 minutes but Darren Phillips' header was ruled out because of a foul.

Rangers' first significant chance came on 26 minutes when one time Docker Harrison Day delivered a fine cross but Kelman was off target with his effort.

Dan Trendall then went close for the visitors just after the half hour, beating Rangers captain and keeper Jacob Marsden to the ball, but the stopper made himself big to deny the chance.

The keeper was helpless a few minutes later when Hassan Nalbant's shot beat him but also flew inches over the bar.

Dockers' pressure eventually told when Oli Spooner's corner was met by Hayes, but his header is brilliantly denied by Marsden. However, Hayes reacted quickest to the rebound and fired home!

Reeves, who had been booked in the 33rd minute, picked up his second yellow in added time to take the edge of what had been a good opening 45 for Tilbury.

Dockers adjusted at the break and Phillips was replaced by Alfie Fry.

With the extra man it was no surprise Rangers had more of the play and Kelman flashed an early shot just wide.

And it took an excellent point blank save by Harry Fairs to deny Sherquan Stephen Toussaint on 54 minutes.

Dockers made two more subs, bringing on fresh legs in Sam Carter and Kieran Jones and they looked to have got the job done until Kelman's late, late show when he slotted the ball into the bottom corner

There was still time for Tilbury almost to nick it at the death when Trendall cut inside but his effort was deflected and put wide for a corner which Tilbury couldn't capitalise on and they were unable to get the win that would have lifted them out of the drop zone.

Dockers are next in action in the FA Trophy Second Round on Saturday (15 November) when they travel to the Chigwell Construction Stadium to take on National League Dagenham & Redbridge.
