Cressing United 2, East Thurrock Community FC 0
The game started with an early chance from Cressing with a header from a corner, that went just outside of the post.
The home side remained on top for the first half and their efforts were rewarded with a goal.
As the half progressed East Thurrock were able to get up the pitch but were unable to make anything of it.
Cressing came close to scoring again when a shot crashed against the crossbar.
The hosts dominated the first half with chance after chance but despite their efforts, they were incapable of increasing their lead.
East Thurrock had a few chances of their own coming from Harry Prince and Owen Dixie however, neither were able to put the ball in the back of the net.
As the half time whistle blew to end an uneventful half, the score remained 1-0 in favour of the hosts.
The second half began and the home side had another early chance, which fortunately for the Rocks, led to nothing.
East Thurrock were much better in this half and managed to get the ball up the pitch much more than in the first half.
The Rocks would continue to get in and around the Cressing box but were unable to get a good shot on goal.
The visitors had more of the ball in the second half but the closest chance of the half came from the hosts as a shot rolled across the face of goal begging to be tapped in. It was another relatively uneventful half with both sides not testing the opposition keeper.
It looked like the Rocks were the most likely contenders to get the next goal and it seemed like they were going to get an equaliser when Michael Adeosun got in behind the Cressing defence.
However, he was pulled down by a defender and the referee completely ignored it which allowed Cressing to break and put the final nail in the coffin with a second goal right at the death rounding off a frustrating day for the Rocks.
