SUPPORTERS of now defunct East Thurrock United men's club are hoping to revive a team and have a meeting in the new year when they hope local residents will pledge support and come up with ideas.

They have also launched a competition to come up with a badge of the new club.

In September it was announced that the club known as the Rocks was to be liquidated by its owner and by the beginning of November that was confirmed and the club's record this season expunged from the Isthmian North.

A spokesperson for the group of supporters says: "We would like to invite everyone to attend a public meeting to hear the plans for East Thurrock Community Football Club and how we bring first-team football back for the 2024/2025 season.

"The meeting will be held at The New Courthouse, 39 King St, Stanford-le-Hope, SS17 0HJ on Wednesday, 10 January at 7:30pm. If you would like to attend please email [email protected] to register so we are aware of how many people are attending.

"The members of the East Thurrock Community Football Club working group will talk about the exciting future we have ahead of us as a fan-run football club. We will cover how the organisation will be structured, how it will be financed, how you can be involved and more.

"After we have presented we will take questions on the future of the club.

"We have also launched a competition for a badge. You have until Wednesday, 31 January to submit your design to [email protected]. Any questions please get in touch and we will be happy to answer them.

"The club colours are amber and black and the badge must contain at least 'East Thurrock Community Football Club' on it. As we will be a new legal entity we cannot reuse the old badge but please take inspiration from this if you wish.

"After the designs are in we will then shortlist and hold a vote of club members to decide the final badge in February. As a fan-run community club, there is no financial reward for the winning entry."
