Rocks' title hopes dashed - and final away day is called off
By Nub News Reporter 2nd May 2026
It's been a disappointing week for supporters of East Thurrock Community FC.
In midweek, hopes of lifting the Essex and Suffolk Border League Premier Division - a table they topped for much of the season - ended when Thorpe Athletic won 5-0 at Alresford Colne Rangers to complete their fixtures and reach 67 points, beyond the reach of Rocks who have two fixtures to complete
The title still isn't decided as Great Bentley won 3-1 at home to Dedham Old Boys, also on Wednesday (29 April). With two games in hand and a far superior goal difference, they could take the title race right down to the wire.
Rocks' push for second place should have seen them in action at Dedham Old Boys today (Saturday, 2 May) and a coach for players and supporters was booked for the final away day of the season but the hosts have postponed the fixture and with no scheduled date for a match, the outcome could be decided by the FA.
East Thurrock's final home game is on Saturday, 9 May and could be their last at the Wyldecrest Club as hopes remain high for a return to Rookery Hill next season.
