Tilbury 2, Takeley 1
TILBURY go top of the Essex Senior League after a two-one victory. The Dockers faced Takeley at the EMR Stadium on Saturday afternoon (23 December).
Tilbury are now 14 games unbeaten in the league.
The Dockers were dominant in the first half, but an opening goal evaded them. Their best chance came in the 38th minute as Alex Clark was released down the right, his shot narrowly rolled past the post.
After half-time, Tilbury was not messing around. They scored in the 46th minute thanks to Clark's low-driven shot. Roman Campell smartly spread play to Clark who made no mistake.
The home side doubled their lead in the 74th minute. Clark's shot was saved but luckily the ball fell for Harry Donovan who scissor-kicked the ball into an empty net.
Tilbury tops the table at Christmas.
The Dockers wait until the new year to play again, facing Little Oakley at Little Oakley Memorial Club. This game will take place on Saturday (6 January).
Oakley sits 11th and beat second-place Sporting Bengal three-two last time out.
